What a month! We launched the new Toutless platform on August 3rd after nearly 6 months of prototyping, building and testing. The fear was real, after 18 years of running the forum, launching the new site was such a scary moment. We were launching a marketplace with zero stock, something that is completely unheard of.

Our fears were all for nothing. The Toutless community took to the new site like a duck to water. Plenty of feedback about how easy the new platform is to use, how quick and responsive the sellers are and how quickly you get a ticket to a sold out show.

Help us challenge the Irish government to make a change

For too many Irish fans the experience of buying event tickets is a nightmare with dynamic pricing, unfair resale and extortionate pricing for "VIP" seating. Ticketmaster and a small number of promoters control almost every major event in this country. They set the prices and answer to nobody.

When tickets were physical you owned what you paid for. Now with digital tickets that ownership is gone. They have your money and they just don't care any more. When you can't attend an event you are left with nothing. No recourse, no refund and no right to resell.

It's been a crazy two weeks! Hundreds of tickets traded and not a single person scammed.

Our most popular event by far was Moby. I saw him a couple of years back and he was totally worth the hype, but we never expected it to be so popular. We're also seeing a lot of love for Jack White, The Prodigy and Deftones. Solid choices!

It's been busy behind the scenes too. Here's what's new:

Hey folks,

We officially launched the new Toutless! Thank you for being the first to try the new platform. It would not be possible without you. We’re delighted to say that our security system is working as planned.

The response has been incredible. Our first ticket sale was to the Arsenal match and the biggest buzz was around Electric Picnic. Six of you got your tickets and there’s still more coming in. So keep your eyes peeled!

(or why we had to go change something good)

Hey I remember Toutless was free? Why change things? Wasn't it working fine as it was?

We started Toutless in April 2008. This is a long time ago. The iPhone had just been made available in Ireland the month before. Portishead's Third was just released. George W. Bush was still president in America and Mary McAleese was still president in Ireland. There are children who could have been conceived back then who'd be old enough to be getting their tickets on the site for the Electric Picnic today. We were in our 30s and we did it "not because it was easy, but because we thought it would be easy".
