What a month! We launched the new Toutless platform on August 3rd after nearly 6 months of prototyping, building and testing. The fear was real, after 18 years of running the forum, launching the new site was such a scary moment. We were launching a marketplace with zero stock, something that is completely unheard of.
Our fears were all for nothing. The Toutless community took to the new site like a duck to water. Plenty of feedback about how easy the new platform is to use, how quick and responsive the sellers are and how quickly you get a ticket to a sold out show.
Electric Picnic was one of the biggest events of the month. Not surprisingly the IMMA events (Deftones, Moby & The Prodigy) were a close second with the Katie Taylor fight tied in third place alongside the Collins Barracks shows. I always take for granted how many high level events Ireland has on tap - especially in August!
We saw some issues in the first few weeks. Improving ticket descriptions, helping buyers and sellers to understand what to expect when you sold a ticket and improving the login procedures were all issues fixed quickly. Ticket Alert information needed a tweak and we're working on improving the UI to make buying and selling tickets even clearer.
Coming up we're working on the bringing same day sales to the site. Currently we are removing the event on the day as the 12 hour seller window is not very helpful when a ticket for an event at 8pm is bought at 4pm. We're working on a system to support this that keeps everyone happy. The website interface will also be updated to further highlight the fact that Toutless is a face value only website - this seems to be missed by a few sellers!
Overall the first month was a great success! Over 1000 tickets traded and not a single user scammed. Safe ticket trading is possible and we're working hard to share this to everyone.
